LOOK: McLaren unveil Alonso’s Indy 500 Car


A spot in history is in Fernando Alonso's sights at the Indy 500, and McLaren has revealed the car in which he may try to secure it.

Fernando Alonso will again make an effort to become only the second driver to complete motorsport's Triple Crown when this individual competes at the Indy 500, and McLaren has revealed the vehicle in which he will attempt to get it done.

Alonso is putting in a bid to participate in Graham Hill in winning the Monaco Grand Prix, 24 hours of Le Mans and Indy 500, where the 37-year-old will drive for McLaren next month.

The Spaniard, a two-time Formula One world champion, competed in the 2017 race and added for 27 laps, only for an engine inability to derail his expectations of victory.

He won at Le Mans previous year now has recorded in his sights in a car adorned with the number 66 in a call back to McLaren's first victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1972.

"I'm thrilled we are finally capable of reveal to the world the #66 car which I'll be racing with McLaren at the Indy 500 in May, very well Alonso said.
"The team at the McLaren manufacturer has worked very hard to build this car ready for our go back to the iconic Brickyard and I think I think fantastic in the 2019 McLaren Racing colors.

"My expectations for the race stay the same, to succeed and achieve the Multiple Crown, and I'm pumped up about meeting the fantastic ALL OF US fans who made me personally feel so welcome first time around. "
